Draft Democrat Richard Codey for Governor

As Senate President & Governor, Richard Codey has withstood the tests of character, integrity and leadership.

Codey's opportunity to lead was stunted by the political bosses who control our government through a system corrupted by money and by a former Wall Street millionaire who grew bored in the United States Senate.

He brought New Jersey together in a time of upheaval, fomented healing in the wake of scandal and brought stability to a chaotic financial situation.

As a true Democrat who loved his state too much to tear it apart, Codey ceded the office of Governor to Jon Corzine because he knew a divisive primary election was not in the public interest in 2005.

Now, after four years of Jon Corzine's misleadership, it has become apparent that the former Wall Street millionaire has failed the character test.

Join our cause today by sending your most generous contribution to the CJDLC's Draft Codey fund.

The Central Jersey Democratic Leadership Committee was established in 2001 to advance the interests of the Democratic Party, recruit and support candidates and wage campaigns for the nomination and election of Democratic candidates.

We have also made donations to other worthy recipients, such as our $20,000 gift to Carteret Mayor Daniel Reiman's "Children's Charitable Trust."

In the decade ahead, the Central Jersey Democratic Leadership Committee will work to:

  • Renew America's promise

  • Make sure our nominees assert
       true Democratic Party values

  • Lift the nation out of the abyss
      created by unfettered Wall
      Street greed and eight years
      of America's subjugation under
      Bush-Cheney Republicans.

His fight for the Nixonian principle of 'executive privilege' has brought potentially scandalous email messages -- hundreds of pages exchanged during union negotiations between Corzine and his ex-girlfriend, union leader Carla Katz -- at taxpayer expense to the state Supreme Court.

Corzine's inability to manage New Jersey's finances resulted in a loss of $25 billion from our state pension funds, a projected $8 billion deficit in next year's budget and massive layoffs and cuts to close a $3.5 billion gap in our current spending plan -- but he reappointed members of the state investment council who blew $25 billion!

His arrogance and incompetence resulted in a shut down of state government and all New Jersey casinos in 2006, Corzine's first year as governor. Despite an increase in the sales tax, Corzine broke his promise to expand property tax relief for middle-class residents.

Now, he wants to eliminate the property tax rebates completely for working residents while preserving them for some higher income people!

Our immediate goal is to raise sufficient funds to draft Senate President and former Governor Richard Codey to replace Jon Corzine as the 2009 Democratic gubernatorial nominee.

Your generous contribution will fund our efforts to identify supporters who want to Draft Gov. Codey, publicize our ongoing work and help elect Democrats who embrace the values that make the Democratic Party great.

Obviously, Jon Corzine is not the kind of Democrat we need in the Statehouse. That's why we need to Draft Richard Codey for Governor.

Democratic Governor Richard Codey

Signs of Hope & Change

Corzine is also reducing state aid to schools and communities that need it the most to combat unfair, high property taxes on our homes.

Corzine is trying to implement a policy of robbing the poor and middle-class to spare the rich from paying their fair share in taxes.

There's just no accountability in Corzine's government and New Jersey needs a change!

Had Enough? Corzine closed hospitals, raises the sales tax, sent 125,000 jobs to China, robbed our rebates, gambled & lost $25 billion from pensions, cut schools, health & safety and he made corruption even worse!
